The John Locke Society will be holding its Annual Conference at the University of Illinois, from June 13-15. Professor Shelley Weinberg, who sits on the Executive Committee, is organizing the event.

Keynote Speakers:

Margaret Atherton, Distinguished Professor Emerita, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

Holly Brewer, Burke Chair of American Cultural and Intellectual History, University of Maryland.

Brief Description:

The 2023 John Locke Society Conference will gather scholars interested in any aspect of Locke’s oeuvre, with the purpose of encouraging Locke scholarship and promoting interaction between experts in different disciplines, such as philosophy, theology, education, political theory, intellectual history, and economic thought.

Paper proposals concerning any aspect of Locke’s thought, his influences, and his impact are welcome. The deadline for submission of paper abstracts (roughly 500 words) is January 15, 2023.  Presentations will be 40 minutes. Please prepare your abstract for blind review. Notification of acceptance will be by mid-February. Abstracts should be sent to: weinberg@illinois.edu.

Attendance by those not delivering a paper is welcome and free. If you would like to attend, but not present a paper, or you would like more information, please contact Shelley Weinberg (weinberg@illinois.edu).
